Magic is the application of beliefs, rituals or actions intended to manipulate forces seen and unseen. Sympathetic magic, also known as the magic of imitation and correspondences, allows for influences based on relationships or resemblances.  Consider, for example, a basin of water that is blessed and then sprinkled on someone, which was thought to transfer the blessing given to the water through sympathetic magic.
