The treeline is an integral part of the outer walls' camouflage. On every living floor, an area extending 50 feet from the wall contains deciduous trees (usually with edible nuts) and smaller evergreen trees furthest from the wall.
Visually, it eases the transition from the somewhat sterile corridor into the living areas, masking the walls so that the video reflected on the sky dome is more realistic.
