The Platform Tube, a distinctive circular platform elevator with a circumference of approximately forty-six meters (50 yards), commands the center of the habitat. It is a crucial conduit for transferring supplies and materials between different sections.
On Living floors, the Platform Tube and elevators surrounding it were encased in a metal tube that cleverly mirrored the surrounding environment, effectively camouflaging itself. On other floors, the platform was shielded by barriers and a retractable transparent tube, ensuring safety and visibility.
The platform lift was one of the first significant infrastructure projects fully completed after the initial concrete pour and required for the vast amount of construction required since it was the only way to move workers and construction materials into the habitat until the lifts were added.
