The usual reference to "archives" during the Knowledge Era was the repository of information provided by those who were recruited and moved from the surface to become the first generation of habitat residents. They were invited to record their history, recollections, and cultural information for future generations.
Created by LPR, Liaison Public Relations, the purpose of the archives shifted as those who had originally lived in the habitats were replaced by their descendants, those who had only heard stories of the surface.
"History can never completely be known unless our individual voices are also known" became the motto under which the archives continued. Each generation is encouraged to journal via written or spoken word, leaving a record of their life and thoughts for future generations. The entries are completely under the individual's control throughout their lifetime. They can choose to share specifics or not. Once they've died, the archives gain control over the records, only making them publicly accessible after at least a hundred years have passed.
The first batch of archival records was released in 120 ac, with new batches being released every five years.
