Thao Nguyen was born in Vietnam. His family fled after the capital city, Saigon, fell in 1975, eventually moving to Shively. Once he was of age, he joined his father and others in building the habitat.
He is partnered with Suong, whom he met as a child in the refugee camps of Guam after the fall of Saigon.
